DESCRIPCIÓN

Dott es una empresa de micromovilidad con sede en Ámsterdam que se fundó en enero de 2019. Dott opera más de 30.000 scooters y bicicletas eléctricas compartidos en 17 ciudades de Europa.

Están evaluando expandirse y conseguir una posición dominante en otros mercados, entre ellos LATAM.


El trabajo consiste en hacer una evaluación de la potencialidad de distintos mercados latinoamericanos y su posterior análisis del go-to-market. 

Key Questions

MARKET ANALYSIS

(1) Current industry landscape: main players in shared micro-mobility (city/market presence, size in term of revenues and fleets, business models, …)

(2) Regulatory environment: what is the high level regulatory framework for each market when it comes to e-scooters and e-bikes? What about shared mobility? Do municipalities have the right to decide/regulate operators and if yes in what way? Anything else important to know?

(3) Vehicle import: what are the import duties and VAT for e-bikes and e-scooters coming from China or the EU? Any specific restrictions or complexities?

(4) Public transport: how good is public transport in key cities? What is the price of a ticket? What about monthly passes?

(5) Cycling infrastructure: how developed is cycling infrastructure in each key city? Cycling usage?

(6) Purchasing power: how is purchasing power in each market?

(7) General description of key cities in these markets: sizes, population density, ...


BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT

(1) Business environment: how easy it is in each market to create a business, how easy is local administration, labour laws, ...

(2) Other country factors to take into account for an investment: political situation, economics, criminality, …

(3) Risk: what is the risk level for a foreign company to have a business in that country?


GO-TO-MARKET

(1) Markets/cities: which markets would you recommend to go first for? (opportunity + ease of starting business vs risks)

(2) Company setup: Dott 100% owned subsidiary, JV with a local player, …. What would be the recommended setup?

(3) Overall: what would be your recommended strategy to get into LATAM?  (Possibly comparing different options)
